BEAT HEART DISEASE WITHOUT SURGERY: SURGICAL OPTIONS IN CIRCULATORY DISEASE-A MODERN APPRAISAL
You will find a review of the various treatments you are likely to be offered from the emergency settings into which such events invariably project you – and the drugs you’ll get afterwards.
Heart attacks are the most serious and prevalent of the abovementioned arterial events because they affect the body’s main life support system, its circulation pump. Something has to be done and done quickly to contain the damage and keep the pump going. (Strokes can be serious too – as can all of these conditions, but there is less likelihood of a crisis decision having to be made regarding interventive surgery – of which more later.)
If you are the victim of a heart attack, any decision made is unlikely to be one in which you are able to partake unless you have thought about it before and communicated your wishes to a close family member. The pain of a heart attack is excruciating (one case-history subject described it as ‘an elephant standing on your chest with one foot resting on your throat’) which does not imply ease in communicating.
Usually it is the spouse to whom the emergency cardiac teams will appeal for permission to operate, and there is more than likely to be an element of do or die about the options presented. Yet Dr Morton Walker avows in his authoritative book, The Chelation Answer, that you are extremely unlikely to be given the emergency option which may serve you best: an intravenous drip of a free-radical mopper and calcium-chelating agent such as EDTA. This, he says, would reverse the entire destructive process set in motion by the heart attack and save unnecessary vital heart cells from dying (once dead they do not regenerate).
Before examining the options you will be given – and by current medical tradition they will normally involve a form of heart surgery – it is useful to have some idea of what actually happens to the heart during a heart attack, since this process, according to Dr Walker and others, graphically illuminates what is needed to minimize heart damage, maximize heart stability and begin the process of heart recovery.
